An authentic SPA technique from Bali. A MAWS course in affiliation with Jamu Spa School (Bali): training according to the school's programme with a certified instructor and a Jamu Spa School certificate.
Balinese massage is a traditional SPA technique from the island of Bali, in which deep bodywork is combined with flowing movements and the atmosphere of a holistic ritual.
A single session brings together long, enveloping movements, work with the palms and forearms, pressure points, gentle stretches and aromatherapy. The techniques flow smoothly into one another, creating a complete full-body procedure.
On the course you master Balinese massage from scratch through to delivering a full session on your own: you learn to work with the body, combine techniques, advise the client, take contraindications into account, prepare the space and include traditional SPA elements in the procedure — a foot bath and a flower-water ritual.
This is a complete 35-hour programme, of which 29 hours are devoted to in-person practice.
Basic Balinese massage is demonstrated and practised on the massage table. Advanced Balinese massage is traditionally performed on the floor — it will become available to graduates in the future, after completing the basic course.
Each participant receives a guide book with descriptions and illustrations of the techniques and the theoretical part of the course — you can return to it during your own practice. On completing the training you will be able to deliver a full Balinese massage, including Balinese rituals, to relax the client.
A programme from the school in Bali. The MAWS course is run in affiliation with Jamu Spa School (Bali) and is built around the school's programme. You do not need to fly to Indonesia to train: the programme is available in Limassol with an instructor who has been trained and certified by Jamu Spa School. After successfully completing the course, graduates receive a Jamu Spa School certificate issued in Bali.
29 hours of practice. Massage cannot be learned from lectures or videos alone, so most of the course is devoted to hands-on work. The instructor demonstrates the techniques, after which you practise them on models, receive individual corrections and gradually combine the separate elements into a complete session. You learn not merely to memorise movements, but to feel pressure, rhythm, depth of contact, the position of your own body and the smoothness of transitions.
From massage technique to a complete SPA ritual. Balinese massage is not only bodywork, but the whole client experience. You learn to build the procedure as a whole: consultation → preparing the space and products → full-body massage → traditional SPA elements → finishing the procedure and giving the client recommendations. The programme includes a foot bath, aromatherapy and the traditional flower-water ritual.
After the training you will be able to deliver a complete Balinese SPA session on your own, from greeting the client to finishing the procedure. You will have not a set of separate massage movements, but a ready sequence that you can perform with your own hands.
For practising massage therapists and SPA specialists this is an opportunity to add Balinese massage to their professional service menu, taking into account the qualification and insurance requirements in the country where they work.
If you have never done massage before but want to gain a serious practical skill. Experience and a medical background are not required — you start with the basics and progress to a full session.
If you already work with classic, holistic or other types of massage, the course broadens your set of techniques and adds a complete SPA procedure in the Balinese tradition to your practice.
For those who want to broaden their service menu and master a procedure that combines massage techniques, aromatherapy and elements of a SPA ritual.
